The aim of this meeting is to learn how to use the Simulation of X-ray Telescopes (SIXTE) software to produce simulations of X-ray observations for a large number of different missions and in particular for the Athena mission.

The workshop, conducted by the SIXTE team, is divided into four sessions:

Session 1:

  •  Brief introduction.

  •  A general overview of SIXTE design.

  •  Practical: Point Source Simulations.

Session 2:

  • Practical: Point source simulations.

  • Practical: Multiple point sources.

  • Practical: Variability.

Session 3:

  •  Practical: simulating extended sources.

  •  Practical: specifying imaging detectors.

  •  Simulating Transition Edge Detectors (TES).

Session 4:

  • Practical: Extended sources and Mosaics.

  • Practical: High-resolution spectroscopy.

The number of participants is limited to 25.
