Description

Dark Matter 2018 is a meeting devoted to discuss the latest developments in the field of dark matter. Presentations will include results from experiments in earth (accelerators, direct detection, gamma rays) and space (cosmic/gamma rays, X-rays), and indirect detection from astrophysical observations. In addition to the experimental discussion the theoretical status will be presented by world experts.

    Resumen: La naturaleza de la materia oscura es sin duda uno de los mayores misterios de la ciencia moderna. Sabemos cuanto hay y sabemos donde esta pero no sabemos lo que es. Experimentos en la Tierra no han logrado aún detectar ninguna interacción entre las posibles particulas de materia oscura y la materia normal. Por el contrario, observaciones astronomicas indican claramente que la materia oscura es el tipo de materia mas abundante del cosmos. Para reconciliar ambos tipos de experimentos la materia oscura ha de estar formada por particulas increiblemente pequeñas que pueden atravesar la Tierra sin apenas interaccionar con nada o han de ser objetos masivos y oscuros pero increiblemente raros con lo cual ninguno de ellos ha podido interaccionar con la Tierra, por ejemplo agujeros negros primordiales. Imagenes de objetos distantes cuya luz ha de atravesar regiones donde la materia oscura es abundante pueden darnos una radiografia de la distribucion de materia oscura. En esta charla hablaré de observaciones astronomicas que se estan realizando en la actualidad para intentar desvelar la autentica naturaleza de la materiosa materia oscura.
    
    BIO: Jose M. Diego es licenciado en Fisicas por la Universidad de Cantabria (UC, 1996). En 2000 obtuvo el Titulo de Dr. por la UC.
    Entre 2001 y 20003 trabajó como postdoc en la Universidad de Oxford (UK) con un contrato Marie Curie. En 2003-2004 continuó su trabajo postdoctoral
    en UPenn (Philadelphia, USA), en 2004-2005 trabajó como postdoc en el MIT (Boston, USA). A finales de 2005 volvió a España como Contrado Ramón y Cajal donde trabajó en el Instituto de Física de Cantabria. Desde 2009 es Cientifico Titular del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Cientificas y trabaja en el Instituto de Física de Cantabria.
